Position Qualification

Position Summary

The College of Public Health at The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) invites applicants for a Research Associate. The position will be housed in the Department of Health Promotion report to Dr. David Dzewaltowski, Endowed Community Chair in Activity, Nutrition and Obesity Prevention and Professor with UNMC and the Buffett Early Childhood Institute. The position will contribute to two aims: 1) Evaluation of population health community-wide and organization (child care, schools, after-school program, youth clubs, youth sport) systems strategies to improve childhood physical activity, nutrition, and obesity (2) identification of the distribution and determinants of inequities in community population health of children through observation of community and organization systems. The applicants will need expertise to contribute to both aims to be eligible for consideration for this position.

Required Qualifications

PhD student in public heath social and behavioral science or related area in the process of completing/defending their dissertation

Supplemental Qualifications

Experience in community intervention
Experience observation of child settings (e.g., physical activity) using video and observation software
Experience in measurement and data analysis of physical activity using accelerometers.
Experience in data management and data analysis using SAS
Experience in social ecological systems theory
Experience writing and communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications.
