Position Summary

The individual will assist with the design of experiments, conduct experiments (surgeries in rodent experiments, histology, molecular biological studies, HPLC), and perform data acquisition and analysis. The individual will be in charge of technical training of technician/student/fellow, ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment in the laboratory.

Familiarity to use computers.
General dexterity and a willingness to learn.
Ability to take initiative to work independently and to follow direction.
It is especially critical for the person hired to be an independent thinker and be able to adapt to changing situations that may occur in the laboratory and during the course of experiments.
Should have experience in Western blot analysis and rtPCR of small tissue, especially brain tissue/cerebral blood vessels. Should be able to teach these methodologies to others that may come into the laboratory (students, visiting faculty and technicians).
Should be able to train individuals with the technologies used in the laboratory.
Should be able to convey the results of experiments to the PI and others within the laboratory.
Should be able to supervise others in studies/general laboratory procedures.

Experience in a research laboratory setting.

Experience in renal nerve recording and microdialysis. Experience with animal husbandry. Experience in neuronal histology, molecular biology, and HPLC.
